ActivityThe main concern of our Research Group EA 3830, GRHV (Ventilatory Handicap Research Group) is the comprehensive approach of the ventilatory handicap, and its treatment. Our research team works on 3 main subjects : 1) rehabilitation of the neuromuscular dysfunctions of the aerodigestive tract, 2) rehabilitation of diaphragm dysfunctions, and 3) treatment of chronic and acute respiratory failure by mechanical ventilation. Our team, with its researchers from different origins, mainly provided by medical departments, with mathematic interface, physiology laboratory, and experimental surgery laboratory, develops basic, experimental and clinical research. Our basic research concerns 1) the study of axonal regrowth, applied to larynx or diaphragm paralysis rehabilitation. Olfactory ensheathing cells are applied to neural regeneration 2) physiology of aspiration. Clinical trials concern larynx and diaphragm reinnervation, and aspiration treatments. Technological research is aimed at improving the artificial ventilation, in acute repiratory insufficiency and patient/machine interactions during non invasive mechanical ventilation (by nasal or facial masks) in chronic repiratory diseases. Right heart consequences are also studied by high performance echography (speckle tracking). |
