Small animal imaging: micro-MRI 4.7T, microSPECT-CT and echography
Computer science laboratory
2 Medical imaging departments: Radiology Dept of Rouen University Hospital and Nuclear Medicine Dept of the Henri Becquerel Cancer Centre : MRI (1/2 dedicated to clinical research), CT-scan, SPECT-CT, PET-CT, echography
Radiotherapy Dept: 3 linear accelerators, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
Activity
The aims of Quant.I.F (Quantification in Functional Imaging) group integrated to the 4108 LITIS laboratory (Director: Stéphane Canu) are the quantification and characterisation of healthy and pathological tissues based on functional imaging modalities in humans and small animals (MRI, PET-CT, CT and SPECT-CT). We focused our work on moving organs and, more particularly, on thoracic organs. Our specific segmentation methods have been developed on the basis of on phantom studies (physical and numerical using Monte-Carlo simulations techniques). We also performed animal and human studies. The Quant.I.F group collaborates with different labs of Rouen University [Inserm U644, IRCOF (UMR CNRS 6014), LMRS (UMR CNRS 6085)] and also plays an important role in the north-west Cancéropôle (imaging and radiotherapy). The group has close collaborations with international teams (Florida, Bruxelles and New York) and industrial companies (Siemens, GE medical Systems).
Main contributions
Adaptation of "belief functions" to the segmentation of thoracic tumors and renal volume (included in the tool "MR Urography" of ImageJ - NIH)
Optimization of volumes measurements in PET-CT for the definition of "Gross Tumor Volume (GTV)" in external beam radiation
Interest of functional imaging during radiotherapy to evaluate patients prognostic
Development and imaging with in vivo confoncal fluorescence microscopy of the lung
Fusion imaging multimodalities in PET-CT (metabolism, hypoxia, cell tumor proliferation)
Optimizing the gated imaging (heart gated-SPECT, lung gated PET)
