  Activity

The main concern of our Research Group EA 3830, GRHV (VentilatoryHandicap Research Group) is the comprehensive approach of the ventilatory handicap, and its treatment. Our research team works on 4 main subjects: 1) rehabilitation of the neuromuscular dysfunctions of the aerodigestive tract, 2) rehabilitation of diaphragm dysfunctions, 3) treatment of chronic and acute respiratory failure bymechanical ventilation and 4) treatment for spinal cord injury.
Our research group is composed of 4 professors MD-PhD, 1 associate professor PhD, 8 clinicians and 1 research technician.
Our team is involved in the Head and Neck Regenerative Surgery Federation (morphology and function) - Fédération-Hospitalo-Universitaire FHU SURFACE.

  Main contributions

Functional laryngeal re-innervation in animals and humans. Ongoing human trial on secondary re-innervation (Governmental research grant: PHRC) and grants (PHRC) obtained for laryngeal transplantation with functional re-innervation.
Relations between ventilation and swallowing.
Diaphragm re-innervation with laryngeal nerve in tetraplegic patients (PHRC).
New high flow oxygenation techniques in acute respiratory distress (NEJM publication) and non invasive ventilation modalities in chronic respiratory insufficiency.
New method of echographic measurement (strain) in right cardiac insufficiency.
Automatic physiologic measurements during sleep.
Interest of cells therapy (with olfactory ensheathing cells) in axonal regeneration, applied to neural structures implicated in ventilation.
