ActivityThe main objective and research axis of Inserm Unit 657 is to propose new methodological and statistical approaches in pharmacoepidemiology. Pharmacoepidemiology is a branch of epidemiology in which drug use is the exposure of interest for drugs already marketed and used in the general population. Inserm Unit 657 was created to ensure active collaboration between several research themes from different French regions and is thus located on several sites. Its director is Prof. Bernard Bégaud from University Victor Segalen in Bordeaux, a senior researcher and expert in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance. Beside the Bordeaux site, Unit 657 is currently composed of one site in Paris (Pasteur Institute) and one site in Rouen. The Rouen site is in charge of statistical developments and bringing statistical expertise to pharmacoepidemiologic studies run by investigators of Unit 657. In the current architecture under the second five-year mandate of Unit 657, there are three functional teams: one team devoted to pharmacoepidemiologic research on psychotropic drugs, one team devoted to pharmacoepidemiologic research on anti-infectious drugs and one statistical team led by Prof. Jacques Bénichou. |
